"Blogging relieves social life" says a study

A new Australian study has found that blogging can boost people's social life, by making them feel less isolated, more connected to a community and more satisfied with their friendships, both online and personally.
This evidence is the result of two related studies, conducted by the Swinburne University Technology in Melbourne, Australia, which found that after two months of regular blogging, people felt they had better social support and friendship networks than those who didn't blog.
In the first study, researchers Susan Moore and James Baker compared the mental health of people intending to blog with that of people not planning to blog.
The study, published in the latest issue of the journal CyberPsychology and Behaviour, involved messaging 600 MySpace users a survey link; of which 134 completed the survey, 84 intended to blog and 50 didn't.
"We found potential bloggers were less satisfied with their friendships and they felt less socially integrated, they didn't feel as much part of a community as the people who weren't interested in blogging ... they were also more likely to use venting or expressing your emotions as a way of coping," News in Science quoted Moore, as saying.
"It was as if they were saying 'I'm going to do this blogging and it's going to help me,' " she added.
The follow-up study, which is yet to be published, was conducted after two months and was sent to the same group of users; only 59 individuals responded.
Those that originally intended to blog reported feeling more satisfied socially as a result of being a part of a group of like-minded individuals. Those same individuals expressed a feeling that they could rely on others for help as well.
On the whole, all MySpace users contacted felt more at ease and less stressed after spending 2 months of steady social networking on the popular site.
"So going onto MySpace had lifted the mood of all participants in some way. Maybe they'd just made more social connections," Moore said.

Indian Budget 2008

The working class people will stand to benefit by up to Rs 44,000 a year in income tax following the changes proposed by the Finance Minister in the Union Budget for 2008-09, which also provides for a minimum benefit of Rs 4,000.

While raising the income tax exemption limit to Rs 1.5 lakh from 1.1 lakh, Finance Minister P Chidamabaram also provided for lower tax rates for income up to Rs 5 lakh.

Earlier, the minimum exemption limit stood at Rs 1.1 lakh for all classes of individuals. For women, the exemption limit has been raised to 1.8 lakh from 1.45 lakh previously, while for senior citizens it has been hiked from Rs 1.95 lakh to Rs 2.25 lakh.

For an income of Rs 10 lakh a year, an individual would have to pay a tax of Rs 2,05,000, as against Rs 2,49,000 under the previous tax structure. For women assessees, a similar income would attract a tax of Rs 2,02,000 under the new regime, down from Rs 2,45,500 previously, while the tax for senior citizens would drop to Rs 1,97,500 from Rs 2,36,000 earlier.

The minimum benefit to a person with an annual income of Rs 1.5 lakh at the threshold will be around Rs 4,000, Finance Minister P Chidambaram said, while presenting the Budget 2008-09 in Lok Sabha.

According to the proposals, income between Rs 1.5-3 lakh will be taxed at 10 per cent, between Rs 3-5 lakh at 20 per cent, while for Rs 5-10 lakh it would be 30 per cent.

Based on this structure, an individual having an income of Rs 10 lakh would pay no tax on income up to Rs 1.5 lakh, Rs 15,000 between Rs 1.5 lakh to Rs 3 lakh, Rs 40,000 between Rs 3-5 lakh and Rs 1,50,000 between Rs 5-10 lakh. Previously, the tax amounts for these four slabs were Rs 4,000, Rs 35,000, Rs 60,000 and Rs 1,50,000 respectively.

My project is mainly designed to reduce the death of infants due to SIDS (Sudden Infant Death Syndrome).
CO2 sensors placed in the crib around an infant to non-invasively monitor the exhaled air concentration variation.
By monitoring the outputs of CO2 sensors, we can detect if there is anything wrong with the infant’s respiration. Remedial action can be taken, thus preventing the sudden death by activating the relay circuit which in turn supplies oxygen to the room where the infant is placed.

• Higher value components are separated based on their commercial values.
• The higher value components being diesel oil and kerosene.
• They are subjected to various reactions and are thus repeated.

My dreams..

Journalism is close to my heart.Had i given a second opportunity to do something other than enginering, i would have definitely taken up this course. I am sure it is a thrilling job and one can get to know about lot of people and also the world.
While many run pillar to post for doing a technical specialization, but i prefer to take up a cool career like this.Hence i tried collecting some details regarding this and i am sure Asian College Of Journalism will satisfy my needs if i take up post graduation.

Prevention of sudden infant death syndrome is my final year project. Well, there are three modules in my project. It consists of transmitter, receiver and interfacing with the personal computer. I am sure it is going to tun out to be a success for all infants. I Am planning to approach few clinics and doctors in order to market my product. Let us find out more about this syndrome.

It remains unpredictable despite years of research. Even so, you can take steps to help reduce the risk of SIDS in your infant. Being an instrumentation and control engineer, i would defnitely like to know new innovations in the field of instrumentation. Control system is a wonderful subject which must be dealt by a proper staff unlike Mangayarkarasi and ck who have got little knowledge and stuff about the subject. I can write pages about them but that's not the thing i am going to blog about. There is so much to talk about our department, but i feel this is not the right time to do so.

The stars shine down..

One of Sidney Sheldon’s best seller novels is “The stars shine down”. Lara Cameroon is an aspiring lady who likes attaining everything that life has to offer her. She had a terrible childhood, her mother died as soon as she was born; her father cursed her always for she is a girl. But her love for father never changed and she used to attend him like any other woman when his health conditions deteriorated. She worked for a board house where dozens of men used to frequent. This girl appeared as an apple to their eyes and many had tried to persuade Lara to go to bed. But she overcame all of them until she had to sign a deal with Mr. Sean Mc Allister for buying a plot of land of his property.

Bill Rogers, an American threw light into Lara’s life resulting which she learnt the trade of real estate. Her first deal with Sean and Bill made her earn a hefty sum of money and name. She rose like a Phoenix. Then onwards it was all goodie-days stored for her.

She is young, beautiful, a self-made tycoon and had outshone all her competitors to reach the pinnacle of international fame. Never in her life would she like to recall her bad childhood memories. She preferred not to disclose her past-life to anyone.

Lara Cameroon was married to a Mr. Philip Adler, a world-class pianist. Mr. Keller was a good friend, advisor and a left-hand to Lara. Though he had deep love for her, he never disclosed it to her. The crux of the story lies in finding the person who had bruised Philip’s arm resulting in disability of movement.

Anna university...

Anna university is one of the best universities in India to offer good education in the field of engineering. lakhs and lakhs of students take up the TNPCEE exam for getting into this prestigious institution. Many end up getting the A.U while some students get The A.C college of technology, and some, MIT chrompet. These are popularly called brain zones of chennai and Tamilnadu. Anna University was established on 4th September 1978 as a unitary type of University. fuzzy...fuzzier...fuzziest..

Kavitha , a professor who has done her master's in Engineering was appointed to handle Neural network and Fuzzy Logic control for our class. Never such a kind of commanding lady, fluent in english, having a good knowledge about what she is blabbering, has our instrumentation department seen. She will make you fuzzy if you happened to ask any question, she will mesmerize with her fluent english and also with her stuffs.
Now i am going to shout a few stuff about this field of engineering.'You can use fuzzy to incorporate anticipatory behavior into a process, and it’s the type of prediction that is like the intuitive knowledge that a human operator of that process has,' concluded Rhinehart."

I love mechatronics..

Mechatronics is one subject which i have loved studying in the seventh semester. Though the classes used to go a bit boring looking into the sleepy eyes of prof. indhumathi, i used to enjoy the period otherwise by doing my own scribblings in the note book, writing, playing bingo, chatting etc..
Let me give you all a brief insight about this field of engineering.. Mangayarkarasi, ck and indumatrhi are triumvirates. They move together wherever they go.
Mechatronics is a new approach in engineering design and production based on the integration of two of the classical engineering disciplines, namely mechanical and electrical engineering, along with computer science and especially software engineering.
